Ryder/Pres. Cup

Presidents Cup 2019
It was a nip and tuck contest!  Not until the final foursome reported their scores, did the International Team surge to a commanding victory. They consumed a whopping 40 more chicken wings than USA..
Oh by the way, the USA team won the President’s Cup 21-19.

Ryder Cup 2018

Due to weather the 2018 Ryder Cup was altered to be four 6-hole matches all played on Friday.  Two captains have been chosen but due to injury Ron Teevan was replaced by Jim Stewardson and Jim Crain was replaced by Jim Cadieu.
And the winners are:

Entry fee is $30.00. It covers the pre- Cup dinner(including gratuity), appetizers after each round, beer(if the Grill doesn’t have their liquor license), and the reward for the winning team.

There will be a pre Ryder Cup dinner on Oct. 9 at 5:00 PM at the Pebble Creek Bistro(Grill). Since the real Ryder Cup will take place in Paris, I am attempting to recruit a chef from the famed French culinary school Le Cordon Bleu to prepare the meal. In case that becomes cost prohibitive, I have our own chef Gary promising that he will prepare our three course meal wearing a beret rather than the traditional toque.
First Course: Salad with “French” dressing et al
Second Course: Chicken Cordon Bleu with “French” cut green beans
                                                           Third Course: “French” silk pie
After the meal, the teams and pairings will be announced.

The competition will be played under normal Golden Boys rules with two exceptions: no mulligan on the first tee box and all putts must be putted unless conceded by your opponents.

On Wednesday, Oct 10, we will be playing Creekside. We will play a scramble on holes 1-9 and alternate shot on holes10-18. After the round, while  waiting for the results to be posted, chips with salsa and queso will be provided. If the Grill still doesn’t have their liquor license, beer will be provided to wash down the salty chips and to dull the pain of missed chips around the greens. If the Grill has their license, it will be a cash bar with $2.00 drafts.

On Friday, Oct 12, we will play Linkside with the games being 2 man best ball on holes1-9 and the crucial, match deciding individual contests on holes 10-18. After Friday’s round, while waiting for that last deciding foursome to come in, you will have chicken wings to
gnaw on rather than your finger nails. Again, beer will be provided if not available from the Grill.

2017 Scoreboard

2017 Presidents Cup

At at a luncheon Monday, draft one pool at a time, A B C. We’ll flip to see who goes first. Once decided, you’ll alternately pick players from the A pool. Once done, the other captain will go first (the one not first for Pool A), and you’ll alternately pick players from Pool B. We’ll flip again for first go and choose players from Pool C.

That will be the 2 16-man teams.

From there, pair the players for the competition and assign to starting tees. The captains will to be on the first tee.

Opponents will be chosen from A down to C groups as done in draft. Somebody picks first, the other selects a team to oppose then.

Play will occur on the holes indicated for the games. If you start on #16 Wednesday, you’ll play alternate ball on #16-17-18 then go to #1 and play scramble (1-9) , then go back to #10 and finish playing alternate ball on #10-11-12-13-14.

Wednesday, Creekside, starting on 16-15-14-13-12-11-10b-10a
Scramble: Holes 1-9. Both players hit from the ball of their choice.
Modified Alternate Ball: Holes 10-18. All players hit off tee, then begin alternate ball off the drive they choose.

Two-Man, Best Ball:
Holes 1-9Two-man, best net ball (Fourball as the big boys call it).

Individual:  The individual matches will be on holes 10-18. Opponents will be the low handicappers on each team in the Friday foursomes and high handicappers likewise matched. Index will be criteria in case of ties for this lineup.
In all cases, strokes will be awarded off the low ball in each match.

Scoring
The winner of each match will post one point for his/their team.  A draw will give a 1/2 point for both teams.  Match losers do not score any points.  There are 2 points up for grabs the first day and 3 points the second day.  The team with the most points is the 2017 Golden Boys Ryder Cup champion.
